What do I need ready?+

Your application should be essentially ready to submit. That means your academic information, activities and honors, personal statement, and all school-specific supplemental essays should be complete.

The goal is for your Former Admissions Officer to review the same application you are preparing to send to the college—not an early draft or partially completed profile.

How is this different from an essay review?+

An essay review focuses specifically on improving your writing.

An Admissions Committee Review looks at your entire application holistically, the way an admissions reader would: academics, course rigor, activities, honors, essays, positioning, and how all of those pieces work together.

Your Former Admissions Officer evaluates how your application is likely to come across for the specific school you selected and identifies the areas you should strengthen before submitting.

Is the session with the same person who reviewed my application?+

Yes.

Your 60-minute 1:1 is with the same Former Admissions Officer who completed your written review.

That means you can ask them directly why they reached certain conclusions, clarify their feedback, and understand exactly what they believe you should prioritize before submitting.

What happens in the hour?+

You’ll already have received and read your written Admissions Committee Review.

During the 60-minute session, you’ll walk through the feedback directly with your reviewer, ask questions about anything in the assessment, discuss the areas of your application that concern you most, and clarify what changes should take priority before you submit.

It’s your opportunity to go beyond the written report and speak directly with the person who evaluated your application.

Will they rewrite my essays?+

No. This is an application review, not an essay-writing or editing service.

Your Former Admissions Officer will assess how your essays are working within your overall application and can identify areas that may need improvement, but they will not rewrite your essays or complete application materials for you.

Can I have more than one school reviewed?+

Yes. Because admissions expectations can vary significantly by school, each Admissions Committee Review covers one school only.

You can purchase reviews for one, two, three, or four schools. Each school receives its own review.

If you need reviews for more than four schools, please contact our team.

How quickly will I get it back?+

You’ll receive your completed Admissions Committee Review within 7 business days after submitting your complete application materials.

When your review is delivered, you’ll also receive a link to schedule your 60-minute 1:1 with the Former Admissions Officer who completed it.

If you purchase multiple school reviews, you may receive separate scheduling links for the reviewers assigned to each school.

What’s your refund policy?+

All Admissions Committee Review purchases are non-refundable.

Because reviewer capacity is reserved specifically for your application and school selection, we recommend making sure your application is ready for review before purchasing.

What if I disagree with the assessment?+

That’s exactly why the 1:1 conversation is so valuable.

An admissions review is ultimately a professional assessment, and you may not agree with every conclusion. Your reviewer will explain what they saw, how they interpreted it, and why they reached their assessment based on their admissions experience.

During your session, you can question the feedback, ask for additional context, and discuss areas where you see things differently. The goal isn’t simply to give you a verdict—it’s to help you understand how your application may be perceived so you can make informed decisions before submitting.

I’m already getting an AdCom Review in another Empowerly package. Is this different?+

No. This is the same Admissions Committee Review service included in certain Empowerly comprehensive packages.

This standalone option is primarily designed for families who are not currently enrolled in an Empowerly counseling package but want an expert final review before submitting.
