What students are saying?

Riya, 11th Grade Student

The Research Scholar Program was an amazing experience through which I learned many concepts of research that will be very beneficial to me in the future. I especially enjoyed working with my mentor Caroline as she had tons of experience that she shared with me and we were able to click instantly.

Before joining, I never imagined how much I could learn about my own capabilities in such a short time. My mentor was incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. We connected right away, and her guidance helped me navigate complex research topics with confidence. This program didn’t just teach me about research, it taught me about myself and what I’m capable of achieving.

The Empowerly Advantage

Some more insights

Why are internships important?

Internships serve as the foundation for strong resumes, highlighting a candidate’s relevant training and professional experiences that can bolster their college applications and potentially lead to full-time employment later.

Empowerly connects students with internships in their field of study that can help shape their career aspirations. Students stand out to universities and potential employers, become more marketable, and may even earn higher salaries down the line through increased networking opportunities, hands-on experience, and gained confidence.

Are internships required on college applications?

While they’re not required, they’re highly recommended. In addition to internships, college admissions offices will consider volunteer work, research programs, club leadership, and other creative projects. However, they are actively looking for well-rounded candidates with demonstrated pursuit of relevant and impactful extracurricular activities in their areas of interest. Internships are an excellent way to highlight passion and proactivity for a field of study.

At Empowerly, we offer many opportunities for strengthening your extracurricular profile—our Startup Internship Program, Research Scholar Program, and AI Scholar Program.

Featured quote from parent perspective

When my daughter started with Empowerly in 10th grade, she immediately connected with her counselor Brooke, who helped her build her resume for the pre-med track. We can't say enough good things about Brooke! Additionally, the awesome Empowerly team helped immensely with finding a UCSF research internship and editing essays. If you're a parent unsure which counselor to pick, look no further and contact Empowerly.
