about our MODERATOR
Throughout her 20+ year tenure as an English and theater teacher and department chair in independent schools, Micki Kaplan McMillan helped countless students navigate the college application process from college list cultivation to thread development building to essay writing. She created and taught her flagship essay writing bootcamp Write Yourself Right over many summers, helping students find their unique voice and story. After starting and managing her own boutique college advising consultancy, IvyQuest, Micki shifted gears to work full time with college advising powerhouse, Empowerly College Consulting. She has an AB in English and a minor in theater from Lafayette College where she serves on the Alumni Advisory Board, and an MA in English with a Drama concentration from Middlebury College.

Brandon has over 15 years of higher education experience. He served as an Associate Director of Admission at Rice University, where he chaired admission committees and was responsible for coordinating transfer admission. He has also worked as a faculty lead for the NACAC Guiding the Way to Inclusion Conference and has presented national college admission workshops. During his career, his students have been admitted to highly ranked universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Rice, and the University of Texas-Austin, among others.
